Savage - Thomas, Roxbury, d. Nov 1638; and our aged sis G." says the ch. rec. was bur. 7 Oct 1658, wh. I presume, was his wid. but the town rec. does not meant. the occurrence of her d.

Obviously at least two Thomas' were having children in the same place at almost the same time. The Thomas(b1615) may be identical with the second Thomas(b abt 1616) mentioned by Savage. It may be impossible to separate the families without finding wills. Possible additional children as follows: (all chr.) Savage - Richard, Roxbury 1631, b. at High Ongar, where he was bapt. 30 Oct 1650, came with ELIOT, in the Lion, bring. says the ch. rec. "Phillis, bapt. 12 Sep 1611, at H. O. Richard, bapt. 24 Feb 1618; Sarah, bapt. 8 Feb 1621; John, bapt. Sep 1623; and ano." kn. now to be Robert, b. 6 Sep 1629; and it goes on to tell how he went to Conn. "when the gr. removal was made," and suffer. greatly in loss of his cattle; was freem. 11 Jun 1633, and among the orig. proprs. of Hartford, where he d. 1640. His will, of 22 Apr in that yr. is the first in the valu. work of TRUMBUL, Coll. Rec. I, 422, 3, foll. by the Inv. His wid. Sarah d. not long aft. All the ch. are nam. in the will, and Phillis is call. w. of William HILLS.

From Families of Early Hartford, CT. p. 377: Richard Lyman sold in 1629 to John GOWER two messuages (?), a garden, orchard and divers lands arable, also a meadow and pasture at Norton, Maudeville, in the parish of Ongar, KENT Co., Came with Eliot in the "Lion" 1631; settled at Roxbury; freeman Mass June 11, 1633; the Church record at Roxbury tells how he went to CT "when the great removal was made" and suffered greatly in the loss of his cattle. He was one of the original proprietors of Hartford and in 1639 his home lot was on the south side of the "road from George Steele's to the South Meadow". Will dated 22 Apr 1640; inv. 6 Sep 1964 83-16-2; will mentions his wife but she died before Jan 27, 1642-3." Also in this same source it lists his 5 children and states he was an early member 1 Ch. Name on Founders Monument.

Crane - Richard LYMAN ..... came from Parish Ongar, Norton Maudeville, Essex Co., Eng., where he sold his real estate in 1629 and prepared to come to America. He settled in 1631 in Roxbury in New England with his children Phillis, Richard, Sarah and John. He came in the same ship from Bristol with John ELIOT, the Indian Apostle, the minister at Roxbury, arriving 11 Nov 1631. He was for a time at Charlestown but attended the Roxbury church. He was admitted a freeman 11 Jun 1635. He removed to CT, 15 Oct 1635, and was among the first settlers at Hartford. His will dated 22 Apr 1640, is the first in TRUMBULL's Collection. He died Aug 1640. His name is on the memorial stone column at the rear of the Central Church of Hartford. Children of Richard and Sarah LYMAN were: Phillis, born in England, married William HILLS; Richard, married Hepzibah____; Sarah; John, see forward; Robert.

Eliz. 30, says the custom-ho. rec. but prob. 33, and ten ch. Michael 20; Sarah 18; Robert 16; Eliz. 12; Ann 10; Mary 9; Rebecca 8; John 6; Zechary 4; and Joshua 9 mo. ; had here Hannah, b. 2, bapt. 12 Mar 1637; Ruth, bapt. 3 Jun 1639; Deborah, 10 Aug 1642; and was freem. 25 May 1636. He had been an inholder at Dunstable, Co. Bedford, 30 ms. from London, therefore well kn. to Rev. Zechariah SYMMES, rector in that ch. (in whose honor, perhaps, he call. one of his s.) ar. co. 1639, was a selectman, kept the inn, and d. 9 Jan 1664 leav. good est. His will, made 10 Jul 1658, names his wid. wh. liv. to 29 May 1687, aged 84, and eleven ch. being all those he brot. exc. Robert, wh. had d. near seven yrs. bef.; beside Ruth, an Deborah. The regist. of Dunstable, Eng. wh. ment. the bapt. of his s. Zechary, 20 Oct 1630, relates also, that a Sarah was bur. 12 Dec 1631, so she was not his d. Sarah m. Abraham HILL; Eliz. m. James PARKER; Ann m. 24 Oct 1643, James CONVERS; Mary m. Simon KEMPTHORNE; Rebecca m. 17 Jul 1656 Elias ROWE; and Hannah m. 22 Oct 1657, Henry COOKERY. His will also names gr.s. Samuel L. wh. was s. of Robert.

In AF John also has parents Edmund ROOT (b abt 1583) and Ema NORRINGTON (b1583) If dates given are accurately reproduced, this is highly unlikely.

Savage - Richard, Windsor, bef. 1640, had been at Dorchester 1635, when he came, perhaps with WARHAM, in 1630, brot. from Eng. a fam. tho. neither their number, nor the ship, nor yr. in wh. they came, is kn. but of four ds. m. at W. two and prob. three at W. must have been b. before he arr. Mary m. 29 Oct 1646 Alexander ALFORD; Lydia m. 29 Jun 1649, Nathaniel COOK; Sarah m. 1653, Benjamin PARSONS; and Abigail, wh. was prob. b. at W. m. 27 Mar 1662, Timothy BUCHLAND. He d. 22 Nov 1683, hav. been in 1660, excus. from watch and ward, was in the freeman's list 1669; and his wid. d. 15 days after him. This name was mistaken by Dr. HARRIS as VOSE.

Savage - Thomas, Dorchester, came in the Mary and John, 1630 req. adm. as freem. 19 Oct of that yr. and was sworn in 18 May foll. brot. ch. Abigail, wh. m. perhaps in 1638, John STRONG; Johanna m. 1633 Roger CLAPP; one, wh. m. Aaron COOKE; and Hepzibah, wh. m. Richard LYMAN; but these two last, with the first, were m. after his rem. 1636, to Windsor, where he was rep. 1638-41,4,and 54. His w. d. Apr 1643, and it is said was bur. on the 18th of that mo. He m. sec. w. 7 Nov 1644, Ann, wid. of Thomas SCOTT of Hartford, had perhaps, Ann wh. m. 12 Mar 1677, Thomas NEWBURY of Windsor; rem. in old age to Northampton, and d. 9 Nov 1676.
